The Asherwood Environmental Science Center
is a 160-acre environmental science education facility that
has been owned and operated by the Marion Community Schools,
Marion, Indiana since 1974. The forested property includes
three ponds and five marked foot trails including one concrete
trail designed for easy access to the forest. Other facilities
include a nature center/classroom, maple syrup camp, aviary
for birds of prey, primitive camping area, shower/restroom,
weather station, challenge course, and director's home.
The highly developed curriculum at Asherwood involves every
student in the Marion schools. Numerous other schools and
community groups use the Center every year.
Asherwood is located about twenty miles northwest of Marion
on State Road 124, five miles west of State Road 13. |
