In recent years, the number of students and other visitors
who come to Asherwood has increased significantly. This
increase has exceeded the capacity of the classroom facilities
and has created a need to improve the movement of vehicles
and pedestrians. In 1997, the Marion Community Schools funded
the production of a Master Plan that addressed the growing
needs at Asherwood. The plan, Asherwood: A Vision for the
Future, provides a conceptual view of the proposed changes
that includes improved infrastructure, parking, and a new
classroom building.
In order to fund such an ambitious project, a partnership
has been formed between Marion Community Schools and the
Friends of Asherwood (FOA). The FOA is dedicated to raising
the necessary funds to complete the Master Plan. A non-permanent
fund and a permanent endowment fund have been established
with the Community Foundation of Grant County. Through the
use of these two accounts, the FOA may accept tax deductible
contributions for construction of the new classroom and
for the endowment. The goal for each of these accounts is
one million dollars.
The FOA meets once each month and needs your assistance!
